Welcome to the What Works? blog, which is owned and operated by the Young Foundation. The Young Foundation brings together insight, innovation and entrepreneurship to meet social needs. The Young Foundation is based in London and is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission under charity number 274345, and is also registered in England and Wales under company number 01319183. It has its registered office at 18 Victoria Park Square, Bethnal Green, London E2 9PF.

As you would expect, we have a set of rules regarding how you may use our site. The terms of use that you need to know are:

  • As a user, you have the opportunity to contribute written, photo or video content to this site. All materials submitted by users to this site are subject to moderation. The Young Foundation reserves the right to delete, move or edit content, in whole or in part submitted by you. We may do so at our sole discretion.
  • Many of the photos on this site are drawn from Flickr Creative Commons. If you choose to upload your original photos to your memory, please attribute yourself. If you are using photos that are not your own (i.e. from Flickr) please ensure that you attribute the photo to the correct individual’s photostream.
  • Users may not contribute any written, photo or video content that infringes on the intellectual property or copyright of a third party.
  • The Young Foundation respects the privacy of users of our site. Please refer to the Privacy Policy for how we collect and use personal information on this site.

By accessing or using our site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed these terms of use. If you do not agree to these terms of use, you may not access or use our site.

Welcome to the What Works? Blog site, which is owned and operated by the Young Foundation. This Privacy Policy explains how we use any personal information submitted to us by visitors to our site.

  • The What Works? blog is open to all members of the public. You can generally visit our site without providing any personal information about yourself.
  • We do not actively collect or retain personal information about visitors to our site other than personal information to answer questions sent to us, and to respond to feedback.
  • In addition, we use WordPress Analytics to collect certain visitor information such as network location, IP address, time of visit and pages visited, and also the URL address that a user came through to access our site. This information is primarily used to optimise the site for our visitors. This data does NOT include personalised information about users such as name, address or email address.
  • Should you submit a story, in written or audio-visual form, you will be given the option of including your personal details (i.e. name, occupation and organisation). The decision to submit any or all of your personal details, as listed above, is entirely optional. Any material and information submitted by you will, once uploaded, be viewed by anyone who visits our site.
  • The Young Foundation reserves the right to use any written or audio-visual material and personal details that you choose to submit to our site within the context of the What Works? blog, as well as in the context of pamphlets, books and/or publicity material relating to this programme of work.
  • Cookies: There are two types of cookies: “session” cookies and “persistent” cookies. Session cookies ensure that you are recognized as you move from page to page within a website. When you close your browser window, the cookie is deleted and no information about your visit is recorded. This site uses only session cookies. Depending on the settings in your browser, you may have the option to deny session cookies; however, if you deny session cookies you may have trouble accessing certain areas of our Site that rely on session cookies. Persistent cookies do not expire at the end of a session and store activity information. This site does NOT use persistent cookies.
